Tagging Music Files the Right Way

Tagr is a tool that lets you sort and manage your music collection. The app lets you edit data such as the title, artist, or album cover of the song. It also lets you control how your audio files get named, capitalized, and numbered.

Primary Features

Tagr offers quite a few options to tinker with your audio files. It edits individual MP3, FLAC, and M4A/M4B files’ meta data. Also, it lets you edit files individually or in bulk. The meta tags supported include track number, artist, title, composer, genre, album, year, compilation, comment, etc. Multiple MP3 ID3 versions are supported, and you may embed cover art too.The tool lets you apply lowercase, titlecase, and uppercase capitalisation schemes. Track numbers are generated automatically, and you may define naming schemes or choose from the predefined naming schemes available. Discogs.com lets you look for album data and apply the information to your songs.

Editing Process

To edit a particular audio file, drag the file into the app’s primary window so that the fields get populated. All fields can now be edited. This editing feature helps if another individual has tagged the mp3 file the way you wouldn’t want. Also, you may modify the artwork by just dragging a new image into the artwork space. Once done, you may click “save to disk” and the changes for that particular file would be saved.
